The prestigious newspaper New York Times has released the list of 100 notable books of this year. This list also includes books by three Indian authors who have received critical acclaim. Significantly, in this list, a memoir of former US President Barack Obama, ‘A Promised Land’ is also included.
Megha Mazumdar’s book got a place in the list
The book review editors of the New York Times have prepared this list by reviewing fiction-based novels, poetry and non-fiction literature published worldwide. India-born Megha Mazumdar’s book ‘The Burning’ has also found a place in this list. This book is based on the terrorist incident in the Indian metropolis.
Deepa Anappra’s book from Kerala is also included in the list
Dipa Anappra’s book ‘Jinn Petrol on the Purple Line’, brought up in Kerala, has also found a place in the list. This is the first novel by Indian journalist Deepa in which a nine-year-old child tries to solve the mystery of his classmate’s disappearance.
Samant Subramaniam’s book was also honored
Samant Subramanyim is the third author to make his place in this list. His book ‘A Dominant Character: The Radical Science and Restless Politics of JBS Haldane’ received this honor. This book has been written on British biologist and leftist Haldane.
