Sinaloa.- Botanical and Zoological Society of Sinaloa IAP (SByZS) shared with the Congress of Sinaloa the achievements, progress and programs during 25 years have executed as managers and administrators of the Culiacán Botanical Garden and the Ecological Park, a period in which they have achieved the transformation of these public spaces into green areas that inspire the community.
Following the invitation of the Commission for Ecology and Sustainable Development, headed by deputy Giovanna Morachis, the Director of SByZS, Barbara Apodaca Cabanillasdetailed to the legislators transparent management of public investment that the institution receives from the State Government and the City Council of Culiacán, resources that represent between 1 and 10% of what is needed for the operation and maintenance of these spaces.
Bárbara Apodaca explained that the resources received by the institution are audited by the Tax Administration Service, the Sinaloa Private Assistance Board, INDESOL, the State Government, the Sinaloa Congress and internal auditors of foundations and institutions that generate donations for the organization.
He explained that in the management and administration of economic resources, for example, in the year 2021 for each peso contributed by the State Government, civil society contributed 15.69 pesos, to team up to maintain the operation of these spaces at the service of the population. Last year civil society contributed 36.3 million pesos, the Government of Sinaloa 3.6 million pesos and the City Council 651 thousand pesos.

In this sense, he elaborated on the subject of recovery fees that are 20 pesos as general admission, and 10 pesos to children between 5 and 13 years old, older adults and students. Tuesdays are free for everyone. Children under 5 years old do not pay. The recovery fees were for 5.5 million pesos in 2021.
He stressed that thanks to institutional recognition for the transparent management of resources, the SByZS is a permanent manager of private funds that allow it to successfully develop important education programs, among which the rehabilitation of green areas in highly marginalized areas, education environmental, research, inclusive gardening, among others.
He stressed that in the last four years, the institution has impacted more than 800,000 people in Culiacán with its various programs and has installed more than 100,000 square meters of green areas in the city with the Appropriate Green Spaces program, the same as in 2021 obtained the Monte de Piedad National Award for Sustainable Development.

Bárbara Apodaca reaffirmed SByZS’s commitment to continue strengthening the rescue of green areas, improve the social fabric and citizen participation through environmental education.
