Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival, crowned the first places, and expressed his happiness with the increase in the number of participants and the diversity of nationalities in this version of the camel journey, and their quest to learn the skills correctly and accurately, and the event exceeded the framework of the heritage sports competition, To turn into a unique and multinational social gathering between residents of the country.
The 55-year-old Italian, Nicola Petio, admitted that he is living an experience like a dream in his fifties, and said: To ride a camel and participate in a race, it is something I did not imagine in my childhood, but by virtue of my residence in the Emirates three years, and before that in Saudi Arabia, I I became closer to this type of heritage sports and getting to know more about camels, so it was a matter of time for me before I had this wonderful experience in the truest sense of the word from the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center.
The American Maryam Suhrawardi, of Syrian and Iraqi origin, revealed that the huge billboard on the streets of Dubai about the camel journey was what made her search for information and seek to live this experience, and she said: I have lived here for 15 years, and I have always had a desire to get to know more about This kind of heritage atmosphere, and the camel journey in the heart of the desert, and after the training, I was excited to participate in this race that we all enjoyed and increased our enthusiasm for the trip that will take place next month.
The camel journey this year is characterized by the participation of Saudi women, through Madawi Al-Ahmad, who participated in the race and will also be part of the trip. The past, information about it, pictures and videos, and all of these things made me apply to participate and my request was approved by the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Revival Center, which trains and equips us in an excellent manner. The eighth edition of the camel journey, organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, will start on December 9, for a period of 13 days, starting from the Liwa region, in the Western Desert, Abu Dhabi, until the last stop in Dubai, “Expo 2020”.
The participants will travel daily on camel backs to cover the specified distance for the trip, which is more than 500 km, in the middle of the sand dunes, in a pre-prepared itinerary. The trip will include rest and camping stations, and the participants will be provided with all the necessary needs for the trip, including food, drink, individual tents, and the camels that they will travel on their backs to.
