22-year-old Miss Cheshire 2018 winner Holly Worswick from Warrington, England, Cheshire, mistook the symptoms of a life-threatening illness for the side effects of birth control pills. It is reported by Daily mirror…
Worswick suffered from migraines and was sure that this was due to the fact that she did not drink enough water. Soon, the British woman began to experience episodic loss of vision, and she decided to see a doctor, who advised her to change her contraceptive pills.
A few days after the visit to the doctor, the girl underwent a routine visual examination, during which she was diagnosed with a significant increase in the optic nerve in her right eye and was recommended to undergo an additional examination. After undergoing CT and MRI, it turned out that Worswick developed a meningioma – a benign brain tumor that caused vision problems. The tumor had been growing for ten years, and if it had not been noticed, the British woman could have lost her sight and even die.
The girl underwent an eight-hour operation, during which doctors successfully removed the tumor. During the recovery period, the British woman began to leak fluid from her nose, and she was again hospitalized – she was diagnosed with an infection of the bones of the skull. Worswick underwent a second operation and was prescribed a course of antibiotics, after which she developed a severe allergic reaction.
At the end of July, the British woman underwent the last operation, during which a metal plate was installed in her skull. On August 5, the girl’s treatment was successfully completed, and her last stitches were removed. She has started driving again and plans to resume soccer in the fall.
Earlier it was reported that five-year-old Robbie Frew from Lanarkshire fell into a coma due to a brain tumor, which his parents mistook for a common malaise. After a successful operation, the child had to re-learn to walk and swallow.
