Colombian athletes face this Friday, August 2, the seventh day of thes Paris 2024 Olympic Games. After his brilliant performance on the BMX track, ltwo-time Olympic champion Mariana Pajón and three more BMX cyclists will compete in the semi-finals.
According to the criteria of
Pajón, Gabriela Bolle, Mateo Carmona and David Arboleda qualified for the semi-finals after an exciting qualifying round in which the Colombians improved from less to more.
Pajón finished first in the last qualifying round and, at 32 years old, is enjoying her fourth Olympics. This is how she shows them to her followers on her Instagram account.
Pajón and Bolle qualified in the last instance, in the repechage, the same stage that Carlos Ramírez reached, but the Antioquian had a strong fall and was left out of any option.
Olympic medallist Ramírez left the track at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yveline BMX Stadium on a stretcher with a fractured right hand. He was taken to a medical centre, according to a post by the athlete on his Instagram account.
Carmona and Arboleda were always in the running for direct qualification and both achieved it.
Gymnast in competition
In addition to the Colombian cyclists, Ángel Hernández will be competing in Gymnastics/Trampoline.
Hernández will be in the qualifying round of that apparatus, at 11:00 am (Colombia time).
