The third generation of the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross is a fact. The dimensions of the body have remained the same; the new Suzuki S-Cross is also 4.3 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.6 metres. At first you think you are dealing with a facelift, until you look past the new front and the redesigned tailgate and see that the body is completely new. Note, for example, the third side window, which has a different shape than on the previous Suzuki S-Cross. The signature grain on the flanks has also disappeared on the new model.
Well, the visual changes aren’t big. Not even inside. The interior gets a new dashboard with a new multimedia screen, but again you get the impression that it is rather an update. This is confirmed by the well-known loading volume of the suitcase. The Suzuki S-Cross swallows up to 430 liters of luggage, with the rear seats folded down you have up to 1,230 liters at your disposal. This SUV makes the greatest progress with its comfort and safety equipment, which is a lot more generous than its predecessor.
Hybrid
The technical basis of the new one is that of the previous Suzuki S-Cross. The same chassis with the same suspension, although some things have been upgraded to improve the driving experience. No hybrid yet, let alone electric motorcycle versions for the new Suzuki Cross. After all, this SUV is powered by the 1.4-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine that was introduced last year.
This BoosterJet Smart Hybrid, supported by a 48-volt starter generator, sends a power of 130 hp and a maximum torque of 235 Nm to the front wheels. Unless you would opt for the AllGrip four-wheel drive version. You can choose between a manual and an automatic six-speed gearbox. Because the Suzuki S-Cross weighs only 1,195 kilograms, the performance is reasonable. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.5 seconds and the top speed is 195 km/h, the average standard consumption fluctuates between 5.3 (front-wheel drive, manual gearbox) and 6.1 l/100 km (four-wheel drive, automatic ).
The new Suzuki S-Cross could be ordered at the end of 2021.
