Expected launch : 01.02.2022
The new Nissan Townstar compares to the Renault Kangoo like the Toyota ProAce City to the Citroën Berlingo and the Ford Tourneo Connect to the Volkswagen Caddy.
The Mercedes Citan and the Renault Kangoo welcome the Nissan Townstar, a third variation on the same theme. The new order break succeeds the NV250 and will have both a utilitarian and a family variant. Although the Nissan Townstar gets a different front with specific headlights, it cooks with the same ingredients as the Kangoo. So count on two body variants: a classic and a longer one, with a loading volume of 3.3 and 4.3 square meters respectively. In addition to the chassis, the interior and the safety systems, the motorizations also run almost parallel.
The Nissan Townstar will be offered with two engines, one petrol and the other electric. The Mercedes Citan and the Renault Kangoo are also offered with diesel, it is not entirely clear whether the Townstar will be available with a self-igniter. The 1.3 DIG-T combines a power of 130 hp with a maximum torque of 240 Nm, the electric Townstar is 122 hp and 245 Nm strong (compared to 102 hp for the electric Renault Kangoo ZE). The battery pack has a capacity of 44 kWh and promises a driving range of 285 kilometers. AC charging at 11 kW is standard, but a 22 kW charger is available as an option. Fast charging on direct current is possible up to 75 kW, which means that 45 minutes is enough to bring the battery pack to 80% of its capacity.
