The first three days of pre-season tests, held in Barcelona from 23 to 25 February, provided the drivers with the first, important sensations coming from the technical characteristics of their respective cars. The latter, which respect the indications of the new regulation introduced just this year, they have in fact induced the twenty participants in the next championship to push the cars at different rates, in order to fully understand the behavior of the cars in any condition. About that, Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly were those who expressed the most positive impressions on the cars of 2022, so much so that they admitted the desire to be able to test them as soon as possible on high speed circuits included in the official calendar.
The British McLaren thus confirmed this desire reached by the official website of the Circus: “I am looking forward to racing on the high-speed circuits included in the calendar – he has declared – obviously those they present types of curves in which, in recent years, you weren’t able to follow the car in front that much. Now, however, you should be able to stay more in the slipstream, and it should also prove to be a nice and exciting race for all to watch. We will see, this is something that will be perfected over the course of the year, thanks also to the developments that will be made. In any case, I can’t wait to race ”.
These statements were followed by those of French of the AlphaTauriwith the latter also indicating the names of some particularly interesting tracks for the challenges that will materialize: “I have to say that 2022 cars are a lot of fun – he added – as Lando said, the car seems to work really well at high speed, and that’s where we usually get the most excited. I can’t wait to go to circuits like Silverstone, Suzuka or on other tracks with similar characteristics. So if we were really able to be much closer to each other in the race, this could add to the adrenaline, which is always what we are looking for. All this charges me ”.
