The classic Mini has already gotten a lot of modern makeovers. Just think of the Mini Remastered from David Brown Automotive and its special Oselli Edition. This Type 10 has now been added, developed by Specter Vehicle Design, which operates from Vancouver, Canada.
The Specter Type 10 is a Mini with a centrally mounted Honda power unit that sends 235 horsepower to the rear wheels. Between the driven rear wheels is a mechanical differential lock, you switch with a manual six-speed gearbox. The body has gigantic air slots on the sides, but is otherwise kept as original as possible. Well, except for the panoramic roof, anyway.
The Specter Type 10 is not only a powerful, but also a light Mini: despite the heavier engine, the upgraded chassis and the luxuriously designed interior, this boy does not weigh more than 771 kilograms (roadworthy). The wooden dashboard and lightweight seats deserve a special mention anyway.
Specter is limiting the run of the Type 10 presented at Monterey Car Week to ten copies. The customer has to take care of the donor car himself, but otherwise gets carte blanche to do what he wants. May also be, because this Specter Type 10 has a price tag of 180,000 dollars – converted about 150,000 euros. That is quite a lot, even for a 235 hp Mini with rear-wheel drive…
