The Korean War Hero to Be Awarded to First Indian Para Commando


South Korea awarded Lt Col. A.G. Rangaraj of the Indian Army for playing an important role in the Korean War during 1950-53 will be announced country’s biggest war honor ‘War Hero’. In 2020, this honor has been announced by South Korea on this occasion of 70 years for this war.

This honor is announced by the War-Veteran Ministry of South Korea in memory of the war every year. The 60th Parachute Field Ambulance led by Lieutenant Colonel A. G. Rangaraj operated the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) during the battle between North and South Korea. This facility was started by India for three years, for this, A. G. Rangaraj was also honored with Maha Veerchakra.

According to Colonel Lee In of the New Delhi-based Korean Embassy, this honor is being given by Korea for his great work.
