Welcome Energy could no longer guarantee security of supply and therefore asked the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) to withdraw the licence. According to the bankruptcy trustee, the claims concern approximately 70,000 small consumers who are creditors, an average amount of 285 euros.
The bankruptcy trustee, who is settling the bankruptcy, recently sent a letter to customers who still have outstanding claims. If it is clear that there is still money left after settlement, the claims will be examined in more detail.
Welcome Energie customers were placed with Eneco. Many of them there were confronted with a significantly higher energy bill, sometimes more than three times higher.
It was previously known that they might also lose money from Welkom Energie. Customers who still have money from the energy supplier, for example a welcome bonus or because a large installment amount has been paid in advance, will probably not see this in full.
