Over the past day, 20,921 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Russia. This was reported on Saturday, January 23rd, by the operational headquarters for control and monitoring of the spread of infection in its Telegram channel.
According to the headquarters, new cases were registered in 85 regions of the country. Most of the infected were found in St. Petersburg (3056), Moscow (2668) and the Moscow region (1121), least of all in the Jewish Autonomous Region (14), Nenets (5) and Chukotka Autonomous Districts (3). It is noted that 27,779 people recovered in a day, 559 died.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,698,273 cases of infection have been identified in Russia. Over the entire period, 3,109,315 people recovered, 68,971 died.
Earlier in January, Alexander Gorelov, deputy director for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, said that today less than 3 percent of Russians have had coronavirus.
