Those of us who watched Dark and look forward to season 3 on Netflix know that it was not an easy road, especially having to decipher the complicated story of Martha and Jonah.
With a popular plot among viewers for being “complicated to understand”, the German fiction said goodbye to the service with one of the most commented endings in recent years. With more than one fan wanting to see more of this fiction, the truth is that Baran Bo Odar decided to stay on Netflix to present his new series: “1899 ″.

Suspense and terror in “1899″
Composed of eight chapters, the show takes place in the year 1899, when a steamship leaves London and heads for New York in order to leave the Old Continent.
With passengers united by their hopes and dreams as they discover a new world, the journey takes an unexpected turn when they discover another ship adrift. What they find on board ends up turning their journey to the promised land into a terrifying nightmare.
As the title suggests, Baran Bo Odar’s new series will be a period drama, where elements of suspense and horror will be included. Likewise, and thanks to the brief teaser they presented, we notice that once again the author will use an engaging argument and where it will be necessary to pay attention to the smallest detail.
Neither German nor English, a multilingual series
The showrunners Odar and Jantje Friese shared on their social networks that “1899” will be a multilingual series and each actor will speak their mother tongue, unlike “Dark”, which was recorded entirely in German.
According to the writers, made it very clear to Netflix that they take the language aspect seriously and they want to represent all languages and cultures as faithfully as possible.
