A constellation of the brightest stars of triathlon around the world is preparing to participate in the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championship, which will be held tomorrow under the sponsorship of “Daman” as part of the World Triathlon Federation series of championships, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council this weekend at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island.
The prestigious event will host 232 elite triathletes, to compete in the women’s and men’s elite short distance group, in the International Triathlon Federation World Series and Para Triathlon World Cup.
The tournament will run for two days, during which sports fans in the spectators’ stands, online and TV broadcasts from all over the world can enjoy watching the exceptional competitions between the athletes on Friday 5 November. The next day, Saturday, will witness the participation of more than 1,700 amateur athletes in community races within the waterways and tracks of the Yas Marina Circuit, which includes the categories of triathlon, duathlon, running, swimming and cycling for all ages and levels.
For his part, Khalid bin Shaiban Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Health Insurance Company (Daman), said: “We are proud to announce the support of these distinguished global events, which reinforce our commitments towards encouraging all segments of society to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.”

In turn, Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “I am pleased to welcome the return of the champions to Abu Dhabi to participate in the sixth year of the International Triathlon Federation series of world championships held in Abu Dhabi, to consolidate its prestigious position in society and at the global level, especially with the tournament attracting elite athletes. One of the Olympic and Paralympic champions who continues to shine after competing in the Tokyo Olympics, we can expect to see action packed competitions this weekend.”
He added: “The tournament will be broadcast all over the world so that millions of fans can follow it, and we look forward to welcoming the interaction of the Abu Dhabi community to watch sports events with a live presence, with a commitment to implement all precautionary measures to ensure the safety and health of everyone, and the second day of the tournament was allocated for community participation, in The framework of our endeavor to participate and encourage everyone to participate in this sport.”
The Yas Marina circuit will see a series of crucial competitions between female triathletes in the elite women’s sprint, with the list of 55 professionals including world number one Laura Lindemann, Olympic gold medalist Flora Buffy, Bermuda and OBE, to Along with a host of professional British female athletes, such as Olympic medalist Georgia Tyler Brown, Ironman 70.3 winner Lucy Charles Barkley.
Flora said: “I am very excited to start the 2022 season in Abu Dhabi, and given that I won the Olympic Games and the World Triathlon Championship, it is difficult for me to miss the opportunity to participate in this prestigious tournament, especially after I was unable to participate in the opening season in Hamburg, and I will work hard to keep On my performance and standings this season.”

9 Para Triathlon Classes
The Para Triathlon World Cup, hosted by Abu Dhabi for the first time, includes nine different categories in which male and female athletes of determination compete to win six medals for both men and women, and crown 12 world champions in the capital on Friday, November 6th. The list of participants includes a group of Paralympic champions, including Paralympic gold medalists Getzy Platt of the Netherlands, Susana Rodriguez of Spain, Alexis Hanquent of France and Claire Cashmore of Britain.
