Nalchik court arrests 15 members of extremist group for two months
The Nalchik City Court has arrested 15 members of an extremist religious cell who used violence to force people to agree with their ideas, reports RIA Novosti.
The community members will spend two months in pretrial detention.
Earlier it was reported that security forces detained 15 members of an extremist religious cell suspected of spreading radical Islamist ideology in the village of Islamey in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
According to the investigation, in 2023, local resident Rezuan Kangezov created an extremist community with the aim of forcibly coercing citizens into extremist views and preparing crimes on religious grounds. He managed to unite 14 people around him. On his instructions, they used physical and psychological violence against those who did not agree with their radical ideas. A criminal case has been opened.
