Concerned authorities in Sharjah revealed that the percentage of completion of the infrastructure work for the first phase of the infrastructure development project for the tenth industrial zone in the emirate amounted to 66%, and its cost amounts to 120 million dirhams.
The project, which is being implemented in cooperation between the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Department of Planning and Survey, the Roads and Transport Authority, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, and the Sharjah City Municipality, aims to rehabilitate the entire area, provide the best services and projects for citizens and residents, improve the emirate’s competitive position, and develop its environment and attractiveness. Investment and enhancing its development sustainability.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abdullah Al-Owais, confirmed to “Emirates Today” that the companies implementing the project are working at full capacity to complete all work, according to the schedule approved since the establishment of the first phase, in March 2020, as the completed works focused mainly on networks Water and sanitation, rainwater drainage, electricity and gas lines, indicating that infrastructure works have been started to create paving works for roads and parking lots, develop a communications network, and set up an integrated security system that includes a network of surveillance cameras covering the entire area.
He added that the project came as a continuation of the series of vital projects witnessed by various regions and cities of the emirate, to provide the best services and projects for citizens and residents, and to raise the competitive position of Sharjah according to the highest levels, develop its environment and enhance its development sustainability.
In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Urban Planning Council and Head of the Authority for Implementing Initiatives and Infrastructure Development in Sharjah, Engineer Salah Al-Muhairi, confirmed that the project is in line with the Council’s strategy aimed at improving the level of services that would facilitate the lives of residents.
He pointed out that the total number of industrial zones in the Emirate of Sharjah is 33, and the total number of durable industrial plots is 7201, indicating that the urban map of the emirate, until 2042, has devoted a large share to the industrial sector in terms of studying its current situation and future prospects.
