The 12 migrants who Government of Giorgia Meloni sent to the detention centers erected by the Italian authorities in Albania They are already on their way to Italy and they are expected to arrive this Saturday, after the ruling issued yesterday by the Justice that ordered that they be removed from Albanian soil, in the first setback to the immigration outsourcing agreement between Rome and Tyrant.
The migrants, of Bangladesh and Egyptare transported by a ship of the Italian Coast Guard and are expected to arrive at the port of the city of bariin southern Italy, local press reported.
From there, they are expected to be redistributed to reception facilities for migrants in the area, and their situation is uncertain, since the authorities have already denied their asylum request in an accelerated process, but they will have the right to appeal against this.
He Court of Rome yesterday issued a ruling in which it did not validate the retention in Albania of the 12 migrants, who were intercepted in the Central Mediterranean and they were part of the first group of 16 people who were sent to the detention centers that Italy set up in Albanian territory as part of the pact to outsource the reception, asylum application and eventual deportation of migrants there.
HE Italian government criticized the ruling of the court of Rome, assures that he will appeal it and Meloni has called a meeting of the Council of Ministers next Monday to promote legislative changes before the court ruling.
The court argued that the migrants should be taken out of Albania and taken to Italy because their countries of origin – Bangladesh and Egypt – cannot be considered safe, in line with a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union issued on October 4.
The Italian Executive refutes this statement and assures that designating which countries are considered safe or not safe is not a competence of Justice, in a dispute between executive and judicial power that is increasing.
