The UAE National Competitiveness Council is celebrating its third anniversary since its establishment and the launch of the “Nafis” programme, which is supervised by the Council. Since September 2021 until today, it has achieved remarkable achievements, exceeding its goals by reaching higher percentages of citizens working in the private sector.
The number of citizens working in the private and banking sectors exceeded 114 thousand citizens, including more than 81 thousand citizens, both male and female, who were employed after the launch of the “Nafis” program and are still working until the end of the second quarter of this year.
Over the past three years, the UAE National Competitiveness Council has established many constructive partnerships that have contributed to the employment of citizens in the workforce of more than 21,000 private companies.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Board Member and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the UAE National Competitiveness Council, stressed the keenness of the country’s wise leadership to enhance the status of the citizen as the nation’s most valuable asset, pointing out that the leadership’s continuous directives to empower Emirati competencies and prepare them to face future challenges constitute a basis for enhancing the country’s competitiveness at the regional and international levels.
His Excellency said: “The ‘Nafis’ programme, which is completing its third year with a record full of achievements, is an embodiment of the directives of our leadership and in line with its vision, in achieving leadership and raising the competitiveness of the country with the minds and arms of national cadres, whom we are proud to possess the highest talents and skills, which makes them worthy of filling various positions in various sectors.”
He pointed out the role of the “Nafis” program in preparing a distinguished generation of national cadres and leaders capable of keeping pace with the requirements of the future stage through their contribution within the private sector, which advances the national economic system, stressing his confidence in the new achievements that the future holds for the “Nafis” program.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdul Manan Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Board Member and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the UAE National Competitiveness Council, stressed the importance of the achievements made by the “Nafis” program, noting that these achievements reflect the success of the pioneering strategies and programs adopted by the Council in light of the directives and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Court, Chairman of the Council’s Board of Directors, and in line with the directives of our wise leadership and its insightful vision to enhance and consolidate the role of citizens in driving the wheel of economic development in the country by joining the workforce in the private sector.
His Excellency pointed out that the financial support and pioneering training and qualification programmes provided by “Nafis” have contributed significantly to supporting the localization file and achieving unprecedented historical achievements in terms of the number of citizens joining the private sector, which is considered a strategic partner of the government in this important national file.
He stressed the Ministry’s continuation of its plans and programmes supporting Emirati cadres in cooperation and coordination with the “Nafis” programme, to provide more qualitative and sustainable job opportunities for citizens through close cooperation with partner entities and commitment to consolidating the status of the Emirati citizen as the most valuable wealth in the country and working to consolidate the partnership between the public and private sectors.
His Excellency praised the commitment of private sector companies to achieving the Emiratisation targets and their remarkable interaction with the Emiratisation policies aimed at employing and training citizens in the private sector, appreciating the cooperation of local governments in this national file.
For his part, His Excellency Ghanem Al Mazrouei, Director of the Office of the President of the State for Strategic Affairs at the Presidential Court and Secretary-General of the UAE National Competitiveness Council, praised the pioneering achievements made within the framework of the Nafis Program, stressing the role of the training programs offered by the program in enhancing the efficiency and skills of national cadres and expanding the horizons of professional opportunities for them.
He said: “The Nafis programme has enjoyed great support over the course of three years from our wise leadership, which places citizens at the top of its priorities. In cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and strategic partners, we have been able to achieve accomplishments that exceed expectations. Today, we are proud that the number of citizens working in the private sector has reached more than 114,000 citizens, both male and female, across various professional sectors and diverse fields of work, which has enabled them to contribute effectively to driving the national economy.”
He added: “We are working to expand the scope of our initiatives in cooperation with our strategic partners from all sectors, and we seek to improve existing initiatives in line with the emerging requirements of the labor market, and to provide innovative programs that respond to these changing requirements and provide citizens with real opportunities for growth and development.”
He stressed that the diversity of sectoral and qualitative programmes provided by Nafis contributed to changing the societal culture towards working in the private sector, by increasing citizens’ interest in working in this sector, excelling in it and continuing their professional careers within its various fields.
His Excellency called on young citizens working in the private sector and job seekers to visit the “Nafis” platform and register in the program to view the available job opportunities and training programs that are constantly updated on the platform.
Al Mazrouei pointed out the importance of the “Nafis Award” which is preparing to honor distinguished individuals from private and banking sector establishments, and citizens working in these establishments in its third session, in addition to the new programs launched during the past year, which contributed to increasing the number of national cadres joining private sector companies, and enhancing the efficiency of these cadres in new and broad fields, which contributed to creating more distinguished job opportunities that meet the requirements of the labor market, and keep pace with the development witnessed by the world in various fields of work.
Nafis initiatives include a variety of programs, including financial support programs, which include the “Citizens’ Salaries Support” program, the “Subscription” program, “Allowances for Children of Private Sector Workers” program, and the “Temporary Support” program, in addition to a group of specialized training programs, including the “Kafa’at” and “Experience” programs, and “Career Guidance” programs.
The “Health Sector Cadres Development” program is one of the most important “Nafis” programs, which is witnessing a great turnout from citizens, especially in light of the “Student Citizen Work Contract” launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, as this type of contract guarantees citizens to join a suitable job while studying, as well as the “Mubdi’een Program” in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, which aims to qualify national cadres in the creative industries sector, in addition to the “Nafis Leadership Program” in cooperation with the UAE Government Leadership Program, which aims to enhance the leadership skills of citizens working in the private sector and develop distinguished Emirati cadres, in addition to the “Nafis International Program” which aims to provide vocational training opportunities for citizens outside the country in cooperation with leading global companies and international organizations, which provides citizens with the opportunity to gain international expertise that enhances their ability to compete in the local and global labor market.
Nafis’ initiatives also include the “Teachers” programme, which aims to empower and qualify national cadres in the education sector; the “Manufacturers” programme, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, which aims to qualify and train national cadres and enable them to occupy jobs in the industrial sector; and the “Media Professionals” programme, which was launched this year in cooperation with the Emirates Media Council and aims to develop the skills of national cadres in the media sector and prepare a new generation of leaders in this pioneering sector.
The Nafis programme includes a vocational training programme that aims to support Emirati students’ enrolment in the skilled workforce in the private sector by providing them with the necessary practical experience during their various stages and academic paths, in addition to guidance packages designated for both private sector workers and private sector companies that aim to enhance awareness of decisions and initiatives related to Emiratisation and the Nafis programme, and the benefits offered by the Ministry and Nafis to companies and individuals with the aim of supporting and empowering Emirati cadres and enhancing their participation in the private sector workforce.
To facilitate procedures and provide the necessary information, the “Nafis Platform” was launched, which is a bridge between national cadres and employers. The platform includes all the information and steps that citizens need to find available job opportunities and choose what suits their qualifications and capabilities.
