The first edition of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria ended last week. The event linked to the Freccia Rossa saw John and Chelly Houtkamp as the first winners, who, competing in a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C, also obtained guaranteed admission to the 1000 Miglia 2025. Two Italian crews followed on the podium: the one composed by Massimiliano Mora and Osvaldo Bresciani in a 1952 Jaguar
The first stage
The first stage on Friday 27 September proved to be particularly challenging not only for the drivers, but also for their cars. After an interlude in the countryside just outside Salzburg, in fact, the crews tested themselves against the high mountains of Carinthia and East Tyrol, where the weather conditions did not always favor them. The passage along the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse took them even to 2,500 meters above sea level, rewarding participants with the view of a unique mountain landscape, made even more characteristic by a light snowfall. Many of them, despite the tight deadlines of the race, also wanted to take a moment to take photographs.
The enthusiasm for the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria
Although it was the debut edition, the event aroused great enthusiasm from the public, who warmly welcomed the event especially in Mittersill, in whose center shows were also organized for the occasion, but large and children also waited for the cars in the stages of Zell am See and St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang.
