Studies and traffic statistics in Ras Al Khaimah Police revealed that more than half of the traffic accidents that occurred during the holy month of Ramadan during the past years were before the time of Iftar.
The traffic statistics issued by the Traffic Statistics Branch showed that the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah recorded during the past Ramadan 20 traffic accidents, which resulted in three deaths, four severe injuries, 13 moderate injuries and six minor injuries. This is as a result of drivers committing 10 traffic mistakes on the road, including excessive speed, failure to comply with traffic laws and passing a red light, in order to hurry drivers to return to their homes before breakfast time, with the possibility of avoiding these accidents with a little care and attention.
The Director General of Central Operations in Ras Al Khaimah Police, Brigadier Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Hamidi, said that 10 major mistakes committed by road users during the month of Ramadan were observed while driving during the month of Ramadan that lead to fatal traffic accidents, which are: First, driving at high speed, especially before breakfast time, and secondly, exhaustion and fatigue because of the lack of Getting enough sleep, thirdly, wrongly overtaking due to urgency, fourthly driving recklessly, fifthly not leaving enough distance while driving, sixthly not sticking to the mandatory lane, seventhly using a mobile phone while driving, and eighthly going back without making sure the road is clear of road Ninthly, the lack of attention and entering the road before making sure that it is clear of vehicles, and tenth the lack of correct estimation of the distance by drivers as a result of lack of concentration during fasting.
He added that traffic violations abound before Tarawih prayers because some resort to stopping their vehicles in places that impede the movement of other vehicles and close the road for others to catch up with the prayer. They must park their vehicles on the shoulder of the road and call an ambulance through the central operating room for medical support.
He pointed out that all security, traffic and civil police departments have been prepared to enhance public safety during the holy month of Ramadan, and provide all kinds of support and immediate response in accordance with the plans prepared within the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and the competent authorities are working to regulate traffic and traffic for all fields and near the squares surrounding mosques with the aim of maintaining On calm, fluidity and order in general.
